Supporting Our Youth

One of the easiest ways for parents or anyone wishing to support Backwater Legacies is to sign up for MC Sports "Active Rewards" program and to make Backwater Legacies your "Affiliate".

It's very easy to do and the best thing about the Rewards program is that it comes at No Cost to you the consumer.

Once signed up, you will receive points toward a gift certificate for every dollar you spend at MC Sports.  This gift certificate can be used to purchase future items in the store.  In turn, if you make Backwater Legacies your affiliate, Backwater Legacies will receive points as well.  These points will help Legacies purchase supplies, ammunition, and prizes for events which support the kids.

It's all very easy and goes a long way in support of our youth, best of all.......It's Free! Please stop by the MC Sports store and ask today about the "Active Rewards" program and how you can help Backwater Legacies.

We also wish to thank the parents for their participation and to all those that signed up to be Backwater Legacies' affiliates at MC Sports.  A special thanks to Owen Valley High School, the Spencer Police Department and to the Owen County Conservation Officers for their assistance and participation and a huge round of applause for Spencer Bait & Tackle for supplying all the drinks for both nights of class!  Be sure to stop in the store and give them a big thank you from all of us.

Legacies Joins Craig Family Camp

We are very happy to announce our new relationship with the Craig Family Camp in Owensburg, Indiana.  Earlier this spring, Legacies met with founders of the Craig Family Camp, Jack and Jim Craig to begin a relationship to benefit our Youth in the outdoors and local communities.
As a result, the Craig Family Camp will now serve as home for Legacies' Youth Hunter's Academy.  The Craig Family Camp is a wonderful facility adorned with a breathtaking landscape, a Dining Hall, Main Lodge,  small cabins, professional shooting ranges and with many more amenities still to come.
We are very blessed to have the privilege to join Jack and Jim Craig and the opportunities for our youth are limitless.  This partnership comes at a very special time for us as our Academy has grown over the past few years.  Jack and Jim are strongly committed to assisting our youth and their attention to detail and thoughtful planning of the Craig Family Camp is unmatched.
We are very eager to begin this season's Academy and we look forward to growing along side the Craig Family Camp for many years to come.

Shania Bags Her First Buck!

Shania Davis of Ellettsville, Indiana bagged her first deer this past December with a 50 caliber muzzleloader.  Backwater Legacies Chairman, Paul Anderson assisted Shania on the hunt.
Not a bad looking trophy for a 16 year old lady, especially for her first deer!  Shania attends Edgewood High School in Ellettsville and has attended the Backwater Legacies Youth Hunting Clinics for the last three seasons.  Her marksmanship is superb and it proved to be beneficial when this bruiser came into view.
Congratulations Shania!  See you at the Youth Hunter's Academy this summer!

Youth Ministry Clay Shoot

Youth Members and friends of Northside Christian Church in Bloomington, Indiana participated in a fantastic day of Sporting Clays at the Presnell Plantation in Morgantown, IN.
The kids had the opportunity to make new acquaintences, enjoy cook-out in the great outdoors and share an inspiring devotional before knocking down some clay birds later in the evening.
Newer shooters caught on quickly after taking instructions and the more experienced shooters were having a terrific time as well.  The targets were challenging, yet enjoyable.
It was definitely a great night of friendly shooting and entertainment for us all.
We thank Northside Christian Church for continuing to support our Youth Ministry program.
